Frequently Asked Questions

Connecting Claude Desktop to StackOne over MCP takes two roles. IT adds a custom connector under Organization settings → Connectors, pastes https://mcp.stackone.com/mcp, and leaves the OAuth client ID and secret under Advanced settings empty so Claude Desktop self-registers. Each employee then signs in and picks their own project, accounts, and actions. Full walkthrough in the Claude setup guide.
You set StackOne up once, not separately in Claude Desktop and on the web. Anthropic's remote connectors are available everywhere once added, so the same connector shows up on claude.ai and mobile too. What stays desktop-only are extensions needing OS access to your filesystem or local processes. See Claude on the web.
A paid Claude plan is not required to use MCP connectors. Anthropic makes custom connectors over remote MCP available on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise, though Free is limited to a single custom connector, so StackOne would be your one. Availability moves often, so check Anthropic's custom connector documentation for the current state.
You don't configure each app in StackOne yourself. IT connects the apps and sets the action ceiling for your project. Claude Desktop sends you to a consent screen where you pick which of those accounts and actions to use, narrowing further if you want. Rerun the flow to change it.
Once connected, Claude Desktop can run whatever actions you granted, across 450+ live connectors and 28,000+ tested actions covering CRM, HRIS, ATS, ticketing, and finance, including apps with no MCP server of their own. Each action is built and maintained by StackOne against the live API. Browse them in the MCP server directory above.
Your app credentials, the ones for Notion, Salesforce and the rest, live server-side in StackOne and never reach Claude Desktop. The gateway address you paste carries no access on its own, and the OAuth client ID and secret fields under Advanced settings stay empty because Claude registers itself. Each person's token is scoped to what they picked. Revoke it under Customize, then Connectors.
IT can roll out the StackOne MCP connector to the whole organization on Team and Enterprise plans. An Owner or Primary Owner adds it once under Organization settings, then Connectors, and it appears for everyone with nothing to distribute per person. Each employee signs into StackOne, picks a project, chooses their own linked accounts and actions, and authorizes. Every action runs under their own permissions.
Skip connecting Claude Desktop to StackOne when any of these is true:
  • An existing first-party MCP server already covers your apps
  • You use only a handful of actions across a few apps
  • You don't need multi-tenancy or per-action scoping
  • Prompt injection isn't a concern
  • Nobody can complete a browser consent step — a shared server or scheduled job, for instance
